The B.A.T.E. Team hosted two sessions of the Closing the Gap: Education Access Webinar, which presented the barriers youth with precarious or no immigration status face when trying to access the school systems in Ontario. Highlights from the sessions included: key findings from the B.A.T.E. research project, challenges in the K-12 school registration process, lack of information and resources, financial barriers, post-secondary access, and the emotional impact of living with precarious status. We also discussed legal protections under the Ontario Education Act, the role of educators and administrators, and strategies to create a barrier-free, inclusive education system. Whether you're a young person, service provide, policymaker or advocate, this webinar offers insights and tools to support education justice for all students.
